C:2 Mental Healthcare – It’s OK to Go Digital
Digital technology is transforming the way we live our lives. In this session, delegates heard how two digital innovations are improving the treatment of mental healthcare and support across Scotland.
- Eating Disorders – Young people struggling with eating disorders are being provided with peer support and advice through new online resources. An online peer support tool allows young people to pair with a trained volunteer who has recovered from an eating disorder. This is alongside a new website that hosts video tutorials and links for parents and carers, and a database of services across the country.
- Computerized Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – A ground-breaking digital service that teaches people to cope with mental health conditions is now being trialled across Scotland. The trial will allow GPs and other mental health professionals to offer the digital therapy to patients with mild to moderate depression or anxiety.
